Fairway Privacy Policy

Effective October 9, 2026 · Provided by 株式会社MKSP

Fairway is a golf practice app. You rate your swings at the driving range and see your progress. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. The short version: Fairway creates an account for you automatically, without asking for your name or email, so your practice is backed up and you can join your area's team; Sign in with Apple is optional and keeps your account if you change phones. We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app, and we never sell your data or show ads.

1. Data that stays on your device

Your practice log is kept on your iPhone: sessions, swing ratings, clubs, direction, curve and contact tags, focus notes and settings. It is also synced to your account on our server, as described in section 2. It is included in your device's own iCloud or computer backups if you have those turned on, which Apple manages under your Apple account. Deleting the app deletes this data from the device; delete your account (section 2) to remove it from our server.

Fairway also has a web version (app.fairway.tokyo). There, your practice log is stored in that browser on that device, and clearing the browser's site data deletes it there. When you first save a practice on the web, an account is created for it automatically, as in the app (section 2), and it is synced the same way. The web version sends the same kind of analytics described below; its random identifier is kept in that browser until you clear the site data.

In US states whose laws require it, the app asks Apple for your age range (for example "18 or over"). Apple shows its own prompt, and the answer is kept only on your device.

Fairway does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos or location unless you choose to sign in with Apple (section 2), to use your location when picking your area, or to add a range photo to a post (section 3).

2. Your account (created automatically; Sign in with Apple or Google optional)

When you first open Fairway, the app creates an account for you automatically. It contains no name, email or Apple ID: just a random identifier, a random nickname (for example "Weekend Golfer 482") and a random golfer character, which you can change any time in Settings → Edit profile. If you later choose to sign in with Apple, Apple is linked to this same account, so everything stays. On the web version you can also sign in with Google.

What we receive from Apple (only if you sign in with Apple): an Apple user ID (a random identifier that is specific to Fairway), your email address (or an Apple private relay address if you choose to hide your email) and your name, if you share it. You can also set a nickname and pick a golfer character in the app, which we store too.

What we receive from Google (web version only, only if you sign in with Google): a Google user ID, your email address, your name and a link to your Google profile picture. We use them only for your account (the name as a nickname suggestion); we don't use the picture.

What we sync: your practice log (sessions, swings, focus notes and tags), the round scores you enter (date, score, holes and course name), your badges, and a few settings (your bag, club lofts, language, pledge, weekly goal, nickname and golfer). We do this so your history is backed up, counts for your team in the Clubhouse, and is the same on every device where you sign in with Apple. Other settings, such as appearance, stay on the device.

Where it is stored: with our service provider Supabase Inc., in Tokyo, Japan (AWS ap-northeast-1). Supabase processes the data only on our behalf.

How long we keep it: until you delete your account. An automatic account that has no Apple sign-in and hasn't been used for 30 days is deleted with everything in it (the practice log on your phone stays; the app makes a new account the next time it's needed). In the app, go to Settings → Delete account. This removes your account and synced data from our servers, and we attempt to revoke Fairway's access to your Apple account. If that doesn't go through, you can remove Fairway yourself: on your iPhone, go to Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple, choose Fairway and tap Stop Using Apple ID. Copies in database backups are removed as the backups roll off, within 7 days.

Emails: we do not send you any emails. Your account stores a marketing-email preference, which is off by default; we will only turn it on if you separately agree to it in the future.

The analytics and crash reporting described in section 4 are not linked to your account.

3. Clubhouse

The Clubhouse lets you practise with friends in a small group (a "crew") and play for your area's team on a local board. Everyone with a Fairway account can see the board; once you pick the area you practise in (the app asks after a practice, or any time from the Clubhouse tab), you're on your area's team. There's no separate way to leave it: deleting your account removes you from it (see "Deleting" below).

What we store when you join: the area you practise in (for example a Tokyo ward, a Japanese prefecture, a US state or a country; never an address or coordinates), your golfer character (the one in your profile; the app picks one at random until you choose), your time zone, your crew, the cheers and nudges you send and receive, the people you block, reports you make, and a push-notification token for your phone.

Location: when you join, the app can suggest your area from your current location. Only if you tap to use your location does it ask for permission (approximate location by default), read your location once and turn it into an area; your iPhone uses Apple's location service to look up the place name. Your coordinates are not sent to us, and only the area you confirm is saved. Fairway does not use motion data.

What others see: people in your crew see your name, golfer, and how many range days and balls you logged each day of the current week, plus cheers. On the local board, your range days and balls count toward your area's total for everyone, and your name, golfer, area, range days and balls can appear in its list of top golfers for other Clubhouse members on the same board (people you block never see you there). In the Clubhouse feed, every practice you finish with 10 or more balls is posted automatically, and every Clubhouse member can see it for two weeks: your name, golfer, area, when it started and ended, how many balls you hit, your good-shot percentage (the share rated 5 or 6), how many stripes (6s) you hit, your best club and its good-shot percentage, the badges you earned during it, and how many cheers it got and from whom. Depending on the panels you choose for the post (Edit post), it can also show each swing's rating and the direction you tagged, in order (the shot map and "Every swing"). Any Clubhouse member can cheer it, which may send you a notification. You can block anyone from their post, crew or board entry; you and they then no longer see each other. Your name is the one in your profile; you can change it any time. Your notes, focus, other tags and round scores are never shared.

Range photos (optional): you can add one photo to a practice's post (Edit post). The app shrinks it on your phone and uploads it to our server (Supabase, Tokyo), where it is kept privately. Before anyone else can see it, it is sent to OpenAI's moderation service, which checks it for content that isn't allowed (for example nudity or violence) and returns only a yes/no result; a photo that fails is deleted. Once it passes, every Clubhouse member can see it on your post for as long as the post shows (not after you delete the practice or your account). Please don't add photos of other people without their permission. You can remove the photo any time in Edit post, which deletes it from our server; deleting your account deletes all your photos.

Notifications: if you allow them, we send cheer and nudge notifications through Expo's push notification service (650 Industries, Inc.), which receives your push token and the notification text.

Deleting: deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) removes your Clubhouse profile, crew membership, push token, the cheers and nudges you sent or received, and the people you blocked, along with your photos and everything else. Reports you made are kept for safety review without your name.

4. Anonymous usage analytics

To understand which features are used and to find problems, the app sends usage events to our analytics provider, PostHog. These events include:

Your internet connection's IP address is necessarily sent with each request, and PostHog may use it to estimate an approximate country or city. We do not combine analytics with any information that identifies you, and we do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

If the app crashes, it also sends a crash report to our crash reporting provider, Sentry: what went wrong and where in the app's code, plus the device model, operating system version and app version. Crash reports contain no identifier for you, no IP-based location and none of your practice data.

You can turn this off at any time in the app under Settings → "Share anonymous usage data". When it is off, the app sends no analytics and no crash reports.

5. How we use information

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

6. Service providers and international transfer

Analytics are processed by PostHog, Inc. on servers in the United States. PostHog processes the data on our behalf under its own terms and security measures. See posthog.com/privacy. Crash reports are processed by Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) on servers in the United States, on the same basis; see sentry.io/privacy. Range photos you add to a post are checked by OpenAI, L.L.C. (United States) through its moderation service, on the same basis; see openai.com/policies/privacy-policy. Because the United States does not have a comprehensive federal privacy law equivalent to Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, we tell you here that this information is transferred to the United States.

Account and synced data are stored by Supabase Inc. in Tokyo, Japan (section 2). Push notifications go through Expo (650 Industries, Inc., United States; see expo.dev/privacy), which receives only your push token and the notification text.

If you use Fairway outside Japan (for example in the United States), the information you sync is transferred to and stored in Japan, where it is protected under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

7. Keeping, protecting and deleting data

We keep analytics data only as long as it is useful for the purposes above. You can delete everything on your device by deleting the app. Analytics are not linked to your identity, so we usually cannot find a particular person's events, but you can email us and we will help as far as we can, including deleting data where it can be identified.

To protect information, we send all data only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and our server provider encrypts stored data, photos and backups. On our server, database rules make sure each account can only read and change its own data; what other golfers see comes only through the Clubhouse features described in section 3. Range photos are kept privately and shown to others only after they pass the check. We limit access to the server and the analytics service to the people who work on Fairway, protect that access with strong passwords and two-factor authentication, keep daily backups of the server for 7 days, and choose providers that maintain their own security programs.

8. Children

Fairway is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Future features

We plan to add in-app purchases. Purchases are handled by Apple, and we never receive your payment details. We will update this policy before they go live.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. For significant changes, we will also let you know in the app.

Fairway

本アプリにはウェブ版(app.fairway.tokyo)もあります。

がモデレーションサービスで同様に確認します(openai.com/policies/privacy-policy)。

プッシュ通知は米国のExpo(650 Industries, Inc.、expo.dev/privacy)を経由し、同社が受け取るのはプッシュトークンと通知の文面のみです。
